API Portal
Background: APIs were originally created to assist our valued partners. The integration process was laborious and required a great deal of effort on the part of our partners. It involved exchanging multiple emails and lacked comprehensive documentation. There was a need for a developer center that was self serve, so we initiated a project to redesign the UX. The goal was to streamline the integration process and make it more efficient.
Project Duration: 2022 - 2023
The design projects included:
API Developer
API Documentation
User Guides
API Admin Controls
Analytics Dashboard

My Role and Responsibilities
As a UX designer, I assisted bringing this design to life and collaborated with the Senior UX Designer and Senior UX Researcher. This was achieved through extensive interviews of project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. I was responsible for creating new journey maps and screens for the API Portal.
Research and Analysis
User Interviews
To gain insight into API usage from a developer's viewpoint, we created interview guides, enlisted participants, and actively conducted interviews with our target audience. After uploading the recordings to DoveTail, I tagged the interviews and highlighted key quotes, ultimately aiding us in pinpointing the necessary application workflows.
Usability Studies
I collaborated with the Senior UX Designer and one of our researchers on sessions to observe users maneuvering through the prototype that had been created. We recorded each encounter and analyzed them in DoveTail. After reviewing the information from our users, we were able to identify the pain points.
Competitive Analysis
To become familiar with what developers come across, we conducted a competitive analysis to understand key features and interfaces.
Journey Map
Using insights gathered during the user interviews, we created journey maps and personas to capture a developer's workflow and sentiments as they engaged with our products.
Information Architecture
I engaged with the Senior UXD, Content Design team, Solution Architect, and Project Managers to create the information architecture.
Outcome
Based on our findings from the research process and design validation, a new responsive design interface was created which resulted in a simplified app creation process, and a new internal monitoring tool for the admins.
